Meet “on.”
“on.” was one of the first times I ever touched a DSLR, edited with Final Cut Pro or used a Zoom. It was the Stillwater music show that my friends and I started with wide eyes and grand expectations. We created musical videos with whatever odds and ends we found in the Daily O’Collegian video closet. I felt like there was so much music talent in Oklahoma and this was a call to action to capture what was going on. Stillwater was such a surprising mine for interesting music. Who would have thought bands like Other Lives and Colourmusic would come from Stillwater and grow to become the innovative behemoths they are today?
I’ll always remember climbing to the top of the OSU Library to shoot with The Uglysuit (video above). Or cramming The Non into a school bus and driving through the countryside. And especially the time we invaded my friend Tahni’s apartment for an intimate session with OK Sweetheart. More than anything “on.” was a testament to working together with friends and fighting boredom with building something new.
It’s proof that college is what you make from it and that life pretty much goes the same way.
