Norman Sunburn Festival, err I mean, Music Festival left the Okie college town thoroughly rocked and rolled. Thousands stumbled into the festival grounds to enjoy local and national touring acts like it was free or something. It still amazes me how much effort is put into NMF and how completely free it stays. It’s really a testament to the hard work ethic Okies are known for. The Blackwatch Studios stage is a great example. Its sound and atmosphere rivaled the Megatron-sized Main Stage, and it was only about the size of a small living room.
This year was full of fun and surprises. Headliner King Khan popped into Guestroom Records for an impromptu performance, Sherree Chamberlain (above) debuted a bevy of new songs to an eager crowd and way too many people punked out with Broncho. Pound for pound, NMF6 is the most financially responsible fun you can have in Oklahoma. I’m already looking forward to next year.
Check out all my photos of the madness here. And some Josh Boydston photos too.
George Lang of The Oklahoma did a ton of video interviews. Check them out.
