“The more that I read, the more that I realized the real world and the fairy-tale world were the same thing in this period, and people really believed that evil witches were quite capable of doing all the horrible things that the witch does in my film. So, you read a folk tale or you read a fairy tale, and the same things happen as do in court records in this period.”
