Rick Springfield was hot stuff in the early ’80s. The “Jessie’s Girl” singer is a pretty accomplished actor, too.
Regardless, he sits down during the entirety of his “Stripped Down” solo tour. It was a challenge but I aimed to make a sitting dude as interesting as possible.

I spent an entire Friday hanging out at Metro Music Fest this year.
The college’s festival is meant to give student bands the chance to shine and invite a few headliners into downtown Oklahoma City.
I think it’s one the best curated festivals in OKC and boasts a lot of cool shows for free. I hope to see the metro grow to embrace it more.

Ben Rector surprised me.
I’d followed his pop music trajectory for years and his infectious, fun nature never connected with me.
Well, then I saw him live. He has all the makings of a pop superstar. Catchy songs, danceable beats and crowds that know every lyric to ever song. I was glad to shoot this show. Oh, and it was my show as The Criterion’s house photographer. Swish.

I went to a Willie cool music festival during SXSW.
Luck Reunion takes place in Spicewood, Texas and featured a huge lineup of country talent. Willie Nelson’s ranch is a rad venue and only the rainy weather got in the way of seeing Lucius, Jenny Lewis, Matthew Logan Vasquez, Parker Millsap, Margo Price and more.
In the VIP lounge, I was greeted with a pack of rolling papers and it didn’t seem weird for a second. Willie Nelson’s branded marijuana business followed me on Instagram immediately after I tweeted from the festival. Luck Reunion attracts a very particular and Americana/weed-loving crowd that’s really there for the music more than anything. I’ve never met a friendlier festival crowd. Did I mention that Bill Murray was hanging around the festival, too?

When Matt Stansberry and The Romance made a pit stop at Sun Studio last year, they had no idea what they’d gotten themselves into.
A brief tour of the famed Memphis studio turned into a recording session six months later after Ples Hamilton fell in love with a CD the band left behind. I followed the 10-peice soul act as they drove to Tennessee, recorded three new songs and taped an episode of the Sun Studio Sessions.
It was an amazing opportunity for the Oklahoma City-based band and a great chance for me to document some history in the making. I’m very proud of my photos.

The Power House opened its neighboring storage unit and turned it into a makeshift recording studio.
Dozens of Okie musicians, piled into the studio and recorded brand new songs for an upcoming compilation. It was rad to say the least and so many friendly faces hung out during the two days of recording.

Oh baby, I had a monster truck living in my apartment for an entire weekend.
Why? Well, it was for a Sugar Free Allstars music video. I shot some BTS photos.
Our star was a 7-year-old named Sebastian who’s probably the best actor I’ve ever worked with.
I can’t wait to show you the results. Travis Tindell and I teamed up to shoot the family funk super duo’s latest, greatest song.

The packed crowd at the ACM@UCO Performance Lab was putting off a serious amount of sweat and body heat during Thursday’s Yo La Tengo concert. I walked into a sauna.
Yo La Tengo hadn’t been in Oklahoma City since 1992, when it performed at VZD’s. They obviously received a warm welcome last night.
Kacey Musgraves made her first visit to Oklahoma City and received a warm welcome from a sold-out crowd.
It was the first great concert event of the year, and I was glad to be there.
