Think 2001’s Oscar-winning “Training Day” but significantly more cuddly.
“Zootopia” was super entertaining. Don’t be embarrassed to go enjoy it.

“The more that I read, the more that I realized the real world and the fairy-tale world were the same thing in this period, and people really believed that evil witches were quite capable of doing all the horrible things that the witch does in my film. So, you read a folk tale or you read a fairy tale, and the same things happen as do in court records in this period.”
That’s filmmaker Robert Eggers talking about his new film “The Witch.”

It’s a terrible date movie but way more fun than waiting for a table at a crowded restaurant.
Either way, leave the kids at home.

The level of detail on this film is nuts.
Eyes, cigarettes and even air fresheners were carefully crafted.
“Anomalisa” dwells on boredom but its thoughtfulness is anything but boring. It went from Kickstarter project to Oscar nomination for Best Animated Film. That’s quite a trip and one worth taking.
The film landed in Oklahoma today.
I love good storytelling, and “Spotlight” breaks down the cost and challenge of following a story until it’s done.
The movie won’t result in any comfortable conversations, but it definitely unravels a mystery in a deliberate, intelligent way. Only one film needed to be seen this year, and this was it.
It’s in theaters again this weekend.
I definitely didn’t hate it.
My review here. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal.
I visited another movie set this year, and “The Scent of Rain and Lightning” was probably the most high-profile visit yet.
Check out my story here.
I hung out on set of another Okie-based production.
Producer Kristofer McNeeley has a pretty unbelievable connection to the film’s source material.
They did a pretty good Jobs.
Just in case you were Hankerin’ for my review.
Matt Damon vs. Mars.
Two go in. One comes out. Review here.
I won’t be headed back any time soon.

I visited my third Okie film set this year.
This one was for Tanner Herriott’s short film “Nora,” which I’d liken to a pint-sized “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”
Check out more about it here and read my story.
A 16 mm film shot in Oklahoma. Sounds like an idea to get behind.
H/T Tanner Herriott
“Think ‘Walk the Line’ or ‘Ray,’ just with a lot more f-bombs, nifty nicknames and more saucy beefs than a two-story Arby’s.”
I drove down to Guthrie to see what this “Pax Masculina” short film was all about.
