It’s been an unbelievable time for tragedy in Oklahoma. The tornadic weather is both overwhelming and extraordinary.
But luckily, the outpour of generosity and relief efforts has been strong. I was contacted shortly after the Moore tornado on May 20 to produce a video in order to tease the Music 4 Moore concert. The event banded together some of the most impressive music talent Oklahoma has to offer. To start the video, I would have to venture into the heart of the devastation in Moore. And I would have to do it immediately. The concert date was scheduled for May 29.
Jarod Evans of Blackwatch Studios joined me and we met with a musician who had lost his home. Joey Wallace was a warm, congenial storyteller who laced his tale of loss with heartbreak and humility. It was unbelievable to shoot in front of his home and to see just how much damage a tornado can cause. Jarod and I finished the day in Graham Colton’s studio. Several Music 4 Moore acts agreed to talk to us about the tornadoes and why they wanted to help. A huge thanks to everyone who spoke to us.
I edited the results overnight and added Jarod’s original score the next day. I couldn’t have finished the video in 48 hours without Jarod’s audio help and Matt Goad’s supers. Thank goodness for Oklahoma talent and smart work. It was a dizzying process, but I think we did our best to give people an idea of just how close to home these tornadoes are hitting.
